Born and raised amid the breathtaking beauty of Colorado’s High Country, Chandi Beck’s passion for music emerged at an early age, as vast and boundless as the landscapes she grew up in. By age 12, her talent was so undeniable that she auditioned for and was accepted as a student by renowned CU professor, Larry Graham, in Boulder. Undeterred by the two-hour journey to Boulder each week, Chandi dedicated herself to honing her craft under Graham’s tutelage for the next six years.
At the tender age of 14, Chandi was invited to explore the prestigious halls of the Julliard School. She had the opportunity to sit in on master classes and experience the buzz of the campus, yet she chose to continue her studies with Larry Graham, a testament to their powerful mentor-student relationship.
Chandi’s musical journey continued to flourish as she earned a full scholarship to CU as a piano performance major. There, she became a recognized accompanist, enriching the CU Music School with her remarkable talent and dedication. Her love for music extended beyond her own performance as she started teaching at the age of fourteen. What began as a part-time teaching gig bloomed into a thriving music studio following her graduation. Here, she formed a team with her brother, an accomplished violinist and violist, and her mother, a fellow piano teacher.
Her accolades are numerous, with national awards to her name and experiences of solo performances with multiple orchestras in Denver. Yet, it is her commitment to her students and her community that truly sets her apart. She channels her love for music into her role as a church pianist, filling the sanctuary with uplifting melodies that speak to the heart.
Chandi is also a dedicated mother to two young children. Despite the tragic loss of her husband in a car accident four years ago, Chandi has shown extraordinary resilience, juggling her responsibilities as a mother and a teacher while continuing to inspire with her musical talent.
Chandi Beck embodies the true spirit of music – a language that communicates across age, time, and culture. Her dedication to music and her commitment to sharing this gift through teaching paints an inspirational picture of a woman who has not only followed her dreams but is also lighting the path for others to find their own melody. Her story is one of strength, resilience, and an unwavering love for music and her community.
